Cathy Bagwell

Cathy Hawkins Bagwell, 65, of Newberry, died Saturday, January 5, 2019 at her residence.

Born on January 14, 1953 in Newberry, she was a daughter of Fred Willis Hawkins and Dorothy Wicker Sutton. Mrs. Bagwell was a former employee of Greenwood Mills, Damon International and retired from the SC Department of Corrections. She was an active member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church. She loved Clemson football, her Yorkie, Sonny and was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

She is survived in addition to her father, Fred Hawkins of Greenwood and mother, Dorothy Sutton of Newberry by her husband, James Roger Bagwell; daughters, Buffy (Michael) Fulmer of Pomaria and Laurie (Darren) Walker of Newberry; sisters, Donna Cohen of Greenwood, Melody (Eddie) Helock of Chapin, Michelle (Randy) Oxner of Greenwood and Robin Brown of Hodges; grandchildren, Dalton Fulmer, Emma Fulmer, Jake Fulmer, Dylan Walker and Landon Walker and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers-in-law, Howard Cohen and J.B. Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 7, 2019 at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127 or to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 1741, Greenwood, SC 29648.

Active pallbearers will be Jerry Cohen, Jeff Lawson, Brady Lawson, Randy Oxner, Austin Oxner and Eddie Helock.
