MSG James Cecil Fulmer (RET), 80, of Prosperity died August 30, 2018 at his residence.

He was the youngest son of the late O.V. And Louise Koon Fulmer.

He served forty-two years with the South Carolina Army National Guard and retired as a full-time Technician for the 218 th Brigade in Newberry. He received many medals and awards for his dedicated service. After retiring, he enjoyed house painting with his father and brother, Vernon.

Cecil was a gifted musician and loved country music. He will be remembered as the leader of the band “The Country Gentleman” who played for square dances for more then 35 years. He also performed at festivals and other functions throughout the state. He furnished sound systems for Mid-Carolina High School and other local schools,churches, and community activities when needed. Cecil was a long time member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church where he served on church council, was an Adult Sunday School teacher and member of the choir. He was Past Master of Little Mountain Masonic Lodge, a State Constable, and a member of Woodman of the World

He is survived by his wife of 58 years , Dorothy Kinard Fulmer; sons and daughters-in-law, Todd (Suzanne) Fulmer of Pomaria, Michael(Buffy) Fulmer of Pomaria, and Marty Fulmer of Prosperity; six grandchildren, Derek Fulmer of Prosperity, Elena (Matthew) Hines of Pomaria, Dalton, Emma, and Jake Fulmer of Pomaria, and Trinity Fulmer of Chappells; four great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Fulmer-Hines, Olivia Hines both of Pomaria, and Gavin and Hudson Fulmer of Prosperity; and an honorary great-grandchild. Jhene Mistach of Pomaria; sisters and brothers-in-law, Audrey Fulmer of Chapin, Hazel Wicker of Newberry, Mary Kinard of Ridge Spring, Ronnie and Jewel Kinard of Prosperity, Wayne and Martha Kinard of Laurens; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Graham; brothers, Vernon Fulmer and Forest Fulmer; and by a nephew, Phil Fulmer.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00PM Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Crescent Hospice and especially Debra, Kim, Gloria, Robin, and Ally for their dedicated and loving service.

Honorary Pall bearers will be Jimmy Boozer, Ludy Werts, Paul Werts, David Werts, Barry Werts, Carrold Wicker, Richard and Elizabeth Amick, Jerry and Bobbie Mitchell, James Clamp, Corey Cannon, Marion Fulmer, Kim and Buddy Summer, and Dr. Carroll Pinner, III.
