Cecilia Franklin

Cecilia Ann Franklin, 70, of Newberry, died Monday, April 27, 2020 at her residence.

Born on October 16, 1949 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Lillie Mae Eargle Wicker. She was a 1993 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Newberry College with BA degree in Sociology and Psychology where she was a member of the Bachman Honor Society and a member of the Newberry College Alumni Association. She completed her Masters Degree from the University of South Carolina College of Social Work where she obtained her LMSW (License of Medical Social Work).

She was predeceased by her parents, an infant son; Timothy Wayne, and a sister Patsy Gregory. She was a proud and devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her loving husband Russell Franklin, Missy Franklin (Shannon), her pride and joy – her grandson, Landen Franklin York; her two special beloved “boys” Theodis and Bentley, a mother-in-law, Hazel Franklin. In addition she is survived by a special niece Pam Branton (Billy), great nieces and nephews; Justin Branton, Jessica Livingston (Chris), Cole Livingston, a nephew Jimmy Morris (Connie), Chad Morris (Kyndy), Brandon Morris (Jessica).

She was a member of Beth Eden Lutheran Church. Memorials may be sent to the Citadel Alumni Association in honor of her grandson Landen York. She was extremely proud of this achievement in his life and it was accomplishment that she was proud of personally.

A private graveside service will be held Friday, May 1, 2020 at Rosemont Cemetery by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe.
