Charles Melvin Pitts, a beloved father, brother, and veteran, passed away on October 28, 2024, in Mount Vernon, MO at the age of 91. Born on July 15, 1933, in Newberry, SC, Charles dedicated a part of his life to serving his country as a Communications Officer in the Air Force, achieving the rank of TSgt before his honorable discharge on June 30, 1975. 

Survived by his children Terry (Tammy) Pitts and Lisa (Scott) Morris, along with his loving siblings Johnnie, Bonnie, and Dolly, as well as several other family members, including ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Charles leaves behind a legacy of dedication and love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished him. 

Join us in honoring and celebrating the life of Charles Melvin Pitts at the upcoming funeral services. The visitation will be held on November 7, 2024, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, followed by the funeral service on November 8, 2024, at 10:30 am, both at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 West Battlefield Road, Springfield, MO 65807. The graveside service will then be held on November 8, 2024, at 1:00 pm at Missouri Veterans Cemetery with full Military Honors.
