Charlie Johnson III

Charlie Luther Johnson III, 63, of Whitmire passed away on Friday, January 3, 2025, at Lexington Medical Center. 

Born on January 27, 1961, in Whitmire, a son of Naomi Harrison Johnson and the late Charlie Luther Johnson, Jr. He was a Navy veteran and had worked at Renfro – Fruit of the Loom in Whitmire. Charlie also operated Crayne's Landing at Lake Murray for a number of years. He had attended the Heritage Wesleyan Methodist Church. 

Charlie is survived by his mother, Naomi Johnson of Whitmire; his wife, Debra Johnson; sons, Daniel (Anna) Johnson of Easley and Lance (Anna McLaughin) Johnson of Spartanburg; a step-son, Steven Nagy of Whitmire; a brother, Nelven Todd (Loretts) Johnson of Whitmire and grandchildren, Henry Johnson, Cora Johnson, Roman Johnson and Ethan Carroll. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at the Heritage Wesleyan Methodist Church by the Rev. Mark Stevenson. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the Heritage Wesleyan Methodist Church on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm. 

Memorials may be made to the Heritage Wesleyan Church, 191 Broom Street, Whitmire, SC 29178 or to the charity of one's choice. 

Active pallbearers will be Daniel Johnson, Lance Johnson, Todd Johnson, Ben Burelson, Jeff Burleson, Fred Howard, Brandon Tinsley and Chris Johnson.
