Chloe Epting

Chloe Shealy Epting, 87, of Little Mountain, widow of George I. Epting, Jr., died Friday, October 16, 2009 at Palmetto Baptist Hospital.

Born on January 5, 1922 in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late Cebar C. and Gerstle Price Shealy. Mrs. Epting was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where she served for many years as the advisor of the Luther League. She was also a member of the Leisure Gatherers at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Surviving are a daughter, Renee Epting of Little Mountain; sisters, Dorothy Shealy Haltiwanger of Langley, Frances Shealy Long of Newberry and Mary Shealy Galloway of Chapin. She was predeceased by brothers, Curtis C. Shealy and John Mark Shealy.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 18, 2009 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Road, Chapin, SC by the Rev. David Tholstrup. Burial will follow in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Pomaria. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church Help Fund or to St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 622 Hope Station Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
