C.L. Johnson

Charlie Luther “C.L.” Johnson, Jr., 77, of Whitmire, died Monday, June 8, 2015, at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.

Born on November 6, 1937, in Whitmire, he was the son of the late Charlie Luther Johnson, Sr. and Veron Estelle Davenport Johnson. He was retired from the Navy and from Whitten Center. Mr. Johnson was a member of Heritage Weselyan Church, the American Legion and the Navy Fleet Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi Harrison Johnson; sons, C.L. (Debra) Johnson and Nelven Todd (Loretta) Johnson both of Whitmire; sisters, Vivian (Jack) McCall of Columbia and Lucy Mathis of Whitmire; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mr. Johnson was predeceased by sisters, Doris Gambrell and Pat St. Clair and a brother, Richard Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at the Heritage Wesleyan Church by the Rev. Mark Stevenson. Burial will follow in the Whitmire Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the church. Memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Active pallbearers will be Todd Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Chris Johnson, Lance Johnson, Blake Johnson, Rocky Sutton and Johnny Sutton.
