Clarice Manning

d. December 27, 2014

On December 27, 2014, “Granny”, Ms Clarice Manning, entered eternal rest. She was called peacefully from her home in Prosperity, SC as she was surrounded by family and faithful friends Pete and Hercules. She is a member of Dixiana Baptist Church in West Columbia.

Clarice was born in Rutherford County, NC to Loran and Annie Street. Her elementary education was obtained in the Ellenboro Public Schools. In 1958, she graduated Ellenboro High School as a straight A student.

Throughout her adult life, Clarice worked in an array of accounting type positions. She was retired from Georgia Pacific, where she continued helping the company through traveling to numerous different plants in several states to assist them through difficult office situations.

After her family and her pets, of course, politics was the passion of her life. As an avid Republican she actively attended party meetings and functions. For her volunteer services, Ms. Manning was commended by personal correspondence for her part in winning campaigns by many noted politicians including President George Bush.

Walking on the beach to collect seashells, relaxing with a good book, and feeding random wild creatures that wandered into her yard were a few of her most noted hobbies. She was also known for her immense independence and tried never to offer advice unless asked.

She is survived by sons Race (Wendy) Manning of Chapin and Gary (Sabrina) Manning of Prosperity, SC, daughter Tina (Jay) Warner of Hubert, NC, Grandchildren Harley Manning, John Garner, Ethan Manning, Asa Manning, Mekayla Manning, Crystal Pegram, Jimmy Pegram, and Hannah Warner, Great Granddaughter Lilly Manning, Brother Norman (Moni) Street of Germany and Brother-in-law Brisco Newton of Polkville, NC. Ms Manning was pre-deceased by Sister Carol Newton, Loving life partner Sonny Edwards, and devoted family friends Jake, Princess, Carter, and Lucy.

A private “Celebration of Life” service was held at Colony Church on Monday, December 29, 2014. Those desiring may make memorials to Pawmetto Life Line, 1275 Bower Parkway, Columbia, SC 29212 or The River Banks Zoo, 500 Wildlife Parkway, Columbia, SC 29210.
