Claude William Riddle, Sr, 84, of Newberry, died Monday, October 18, 2010, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on September 6, 1926, in Newberry, he was a son of the late Jimmy Lee and Vera Metts Riddle. He was retired from DeLaval Separator Company. Mr. Riddle was a World War II Marine Corps veteran and a member of Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church. He loved hunting, fishing and raising gamecocks.

Surviving is his loving wife of 60 years, Beatrice Mills Riddle; sons, Mike (Jackie) Riddle of Chapin, Bill (Vicki) Riddle, Garry (Mary Nell) Riddle and Craig (Brenda) Riddle all of Newberry; a daughter, Gail (Jim) Benton of Prosperity; a brother, Roy Riddle of Newberry; sisters, Gladys Brooks of Greenwood and Sue Brown of Greenville; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Riddle was predeceased by brothers, Robert Riddle, John Riddle, George Riddle, Loy Riddle, Charles Riddle and Derrill Riddle.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Little River Dominick Presbyterian Church Maintenance Fund, 8654 Highway 56, Kinards, SC 29355.

Active pallbearers will be his grandsons, Trey Riddle, Clay Riddle, Eric Riddle, Jeremy Medlock, Jerrad Riddle, Blake Riddle, Paul Riddle, Chad Riddle, and Brad Riddle

Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters, Jill Thurman, Nikki Chapman and Leigh Ann Miller and his niece, Angel Jurgschat and her daughter, Ericka Jurgschat, and friends, Alan Senn and Bob Jackson
