Cornelius Newton “Pee Wee” Hipp, 86, of Prosperity, died Monday, January 5, 2015, at White Oak Manor.
Born on September 21, 1928, in Saluda County, he was a son of the late Marvin and Gussie Mills Hipp. He was a graduate of Stoney Hill High School and was retired from Cannon Construction. He was a lifelong member of Zion United Methodist Church.
Mr. Hipp is survived by his wife, Madeline Amick Hipp; daughters, Janie (Gordon) Morris, Marcia Miller (Keith Bannister) and Barbara (Jim) Barber all of Prosperity; sisters, Narvis Werts of Prosperity and Peggy Garrett of Batesburg; brothers, Donnie Hipp of Saluda and Ronnie Hipp of Ninety Six; grandchildren, Marie (Andra) Hess, Allison (Matt) Elswick, Kyle Moore, Erik (Dawn) Barber and Brennen Barber; great-grandchildren, Lexi Hess and Spencer and Dawson Elswick. He was predeceased by a sister, Dessie Boozer.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Zion United Methodist Church by the Rev. David Taylor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Zion United Methodist Church, 80 Zion Circle, Prosperity, SC 29127.
Active pallbearers will be nephews, Hal Amick, Kenneth Boozer, Greg Dominick, Brian Hipp, Barry Werts and Paul Werts.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Gathering Sunday School Class.
