David Lever Cromer, 87, of Pomaria, passed away at his home on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, with all of his family by his side.
He was born on November 7, 1936, in Pomaria, to the late Bennie Tiller and Olgie Lever Cromer. Mr. Cromer served in the South Carolina National Guard and was retired from Uniroyal/Michelin in Winnsboro, SC after 40 years of service. Following his retirement, he found great joy in working at Green Acres Farm in Pomaria for many years where they treated him like family.
His passion for farming, gardening and tending to his cattle was evident to all who knew him. In years past he enjoyed coon hunting and bee keeping. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and was always interested in hearing what they caught fishing, hunting and trapping. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Hawkins Cromer; sons, Dale (Sharon) Cromer and Rodney (Sabrina) Cromer both of Pomaria; granddaughters, Kayla (Corey) Bishop of Prosperity and Rebecca (Richard) Cates of Pomaria; great-grandchildren, Skylar Grace and Remy Kate Bishop and Elliott Dale and Harley Rae Cates and sister, Grace Pingleton of Newberry.
He was predeceased by sisters, Tillie Leitzsey and Nannielene Nichols.
A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 12, 2024, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery by the Rev. Bob Huggins. The family will receive friends following the service in the church Reese Building.
