David E. Nichols

David Elsworth Nichols, 86, of Rural Hall, NC, died Friday, April 2, 2010, at Hospice of Cleveland County in Shelby, NC.

He was born in Forsyth County on September 10, 1923, to the late Everette and Bernice Nichols.  Mr. Nichols married his loving wife, Esther Brown Nichols on March 3, 1947.  He proudly served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Force.  Mr. Nichols retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1983.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Brown Nichols in 1999 and a sister, Emily Moorefield.

He is survived by a daughter, Rebecca Bullington and her husband, John of Kings Mountain, NC; a son, Rev. Brent Nichols and his wife, Lynn of Pomaria; five grandchildren, Matthew Bullington, Jenny Bullington, David Nichols, Andrew Nichols and Elizabeth Nichols and a sister, Jayne Reimers of Houston, TX

Funeral services will be held at at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2010, at Bethania Moravian Church with Rev. Wayne Byerly and Rev. Charles Fishel officiating.  Burial will follow in Rural Hall Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at Bethania Moravian Church from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Bethania Moravian Church, PO Box 170, Bethania, NC 27010
