David Riser

David Meredith Riser, 85, of Chapin, died Thursday, January 15, 2009 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 30, 1923 in Kinards he was a son of the late William Wallace and Ola Estelle Reighley Riser. Mr. Riser was a World War II Army Air Force veteran having served as a tail gunner in the Pacific Theatre. He was retired from Greyhound and was a member of Chapin United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Turner Riser; a son, David Wayne (Donna) Riser of Chapin; daughters, Donna (Larry) Kennedy of Leesville and Meredith (H.F.) Jackson of Fort Mill; sisters, Elizabeth Sheriff of Ballentine and Margaret Lancaster of Charleston; brothers, William Wallace (Mary) Riser, Jr. of Newberry and Tom (Barbara) Riser of Kinards; a sister-in-law, Rebecca Riser of North Charleston; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Harold Riser.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 18, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapin United Methodist Church by the Rev. Jody Flowers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before the service Sunday at the church. Memorials may be made to Chapin United Methodist Church, 415 Lexington Avenue, Chapin, SC 29036.
