David Stone

David Wilkes Stone, Jr., 84, of Prosperity, widower of Mary Platt Stone, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011.

Born on June 29, 1927, in Prosperity, he was the son of the late David Wilkes Stone, Sr. and Brunelle Lominick Stone. Mr. Stone was a World War II Navy veteran. He was employed by Cherokee Construction for 25 years and retired from Bonitz Construction. He was a member of St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, the St. Philip’s Fire Department and the Prosperity Wildlife Federation. Mr. Stone enjoyed hunting, fishing, and having fish fry’s and suppers at the pond with his family and friends.

He is survived by daughters, Deborah (Bernard) Herman and Robin (Jimmy) Richardson both of Prosperity; a sister, Martha Yonce of Augusta, GA; a brother, Johnson Stone of Missouri and a granddaughter, Taylor Richardson. He was predeceased by a grandson, Hunter James Richardson and a sister, Louise Wicker.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 6, 2011, at St. Philip’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
