Don Burton Mohler, Jr., 73, of Newberry and formerly of Ft. Myers, FL, died Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at MUSC.
Born on June 1, 1940, in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Don Burton Mohler, Sr. and May O'Bannon Mohler. He was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and was a Navy veteran who served as a radio operator on the USS Meredith. He was a former employee and programmer of Modern Air Conditioning of Ft. Myers, FL and retired as owner and designer of LORDACS Software. Mr. Mohler was a member of The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Newberry where he was active in Sunday school and the Friday Morning Men's Group. He was a member of the Mid-Carolina Country Club where he was a member of the Hackers and Senior Groups. Mr. Mohler was a pilot and former flight instructor.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mohler; a son, Don Burton (Lynn) Mohler III of Newberry; a daughter, Kathy (Doug) Wicker of Newberry; a step-daughter, Trina (Scott) Reisch of Denver, CO; a sister, Sylvia (Stan) Carlson of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Devin Price, Sarah Mohler, Laura Mohler, Noah Mohler, Jonathan Reisch, Caroline Reisch, Sam Reisch and Shawn Wicker and nephews, Eric, Tony and Andy Carlson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 9, 2013, at The Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Newberry by the Rev. Mantle Nance. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will Friday from 6:00-7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the church general fund, 1701 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Carlson, Tony Carlson, Andy Carlson, Dean Wise, Edwin Wicker, and Steve Anders.
