Donald Eugene Morris, 75, of Newberry, went to his heavenly home on May 7, 2011.
Born June 29, 1935 in Newberry, he was a son of the late Samuel Walter and Helen Franklin Morris. He served in the SC National Guard, was a Newberry County Deputy and was on Newberry City Council. When Donald retired, he was owner-operator of West End Quick Stop & Laundry Mat and West End Pawn Shop. He was a member of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church where he served on the church council and several committees.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Belle B. Morris; daughters Rynn (Kem) Kinard and Jill (Donnie) Shealy, Grandchildren; Alan Kinard, Niki (Jose) Fellers, Stephanie (Allen) Acord and Eric (Angelica) Shealy. A granddaughter, Brooke Kinard predeceased Donald. He is also survived by great-grandchildren; Addison, Will, Isaac, Connor, and Kylie. He is also survived by brothers, Charles (Nancy) Morris, Billy (Edith) Morris, Wayne (Debra) Morris and a number of special nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be held at 4:00 pm on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Dr. Mary Havens and the Rev. Dr. Robert McCollum. Burial will follow in the Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, May 9 th from 5:30 until 7:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church, 1307 Drayton Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
