Donny Sligh

James Donny Sligh, 73, of Newberry, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born on January 3, 1942, in Newberry, he was the son of the late James Jacob and Jessie Kinard Sligh. He was a 1965 graduate of Newberry College and the owner of Sligh Construction and Logging. Mr. Sligh was a member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church, the Newberry Exchange Club, the Lower Newberry County Farmers and the S.C. Timber Association. He was also a member of the Smilin Swingers and the Good Sam's Club.

Mr. Sligh is survived by his wife, Patsy Myers Sligh; a son, James Allen (Lisa) Sligh of Newberry; a daughter, Melissa Sligh (Robert) Dennis of Newberry; grandchildren, Alli Sligh (Jackson) Graham, Madison Aryn Dennis and Clayton Sligh Dennis.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 17, 2015, at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church Handicap Fund, 3074 Bachman Chapel Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.

Active pallbearers will be Johnny Trammell, John Steven Trammell, Jerry Myers, Steve Kinard, Jay Peel, Jackson Graham, Roy Hill, Brent Long, Ryan Long and Kris Kneece.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Sligh Construction and Logging Employees.
