Donald Layton “Donnie” Wofford, 53, of Newberry, died Monday, November 30, 2009 at his residence.
Born on August 28, 1956, in Prosperity, he was a son of Jerry L. Wofford and the late Jetty McKinney Wofford. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, was a board member of the Ruth Pugh Foundation and was an avid Gamecock fan.
Surviving in addition to his father of Prosperity are his wife, Angie Bouknight Wofford; sons, Adam Layton Wofford of Newberry and William (Miho) Wofford of Osaka, Japan; a daughter, Angela Wofford of Newberry; a step-son, Brian (Alisa) Bishop of Greensboro, NC; a step-daughter, Amanda Eaves of the home; a sister, Janet (Cecil) Morris of Newberry; seven grandchildren. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Michael Wofford.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church by the Rev. Elizabeth Morgan. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 1605 Main Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
