Doris Vaughn Fulmer, 88, of Newberry, died Friday, April 3, 2009 at White Oak Manor.
Born on February 19, 1921 in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Herman Willie Vaughn, Sr. and Beulah Mae Morris Vaughn. She was a member of Colony Lutheran Church where she was a member of WELCA and an honorary member of the S.C. WELCA. Mrs. Fulmer was the valedictorian of her graduating high school class of Stoney Hill High School.
Surviving are her husband of 68 years, Heyward Larry Fulmer; sons, Larry V. (Neal) Fulmer, Sr. and Cecil George Fulmer both of Newberry; a daughter, Anne F. (Benji) Kirkland of Newberry; sisters, Mildred V. Amick and Amanda V. Kunkle both of Prosperity; grandchildren, Larry V. Fulmer, Jr., Cheryl F. Shealy, Curtis Fulmer, Elisha Kirkland, Lonica Dowd, and Gina Kirkland; great-grandchildren, C.J., Daniel, Alec, Zachary, Luke and Landon. Mrs. Fulmer was predeceased by brothers, Herman Willie Vaughn, Jr. and Lester M. Vaughn and a sister, Bonnie Vaughn.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 5, 2009, at Colony Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jerry Trantham. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Colony Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund, 48 Colony Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
