Doris J. Gambrell

Mrs. Doris Johnson Gambrell, 84, stepped into the presence of our Lord on Saturday May 24, 2014 with her family by her side in her home in Little Mountain, South Carolina. A gathering of family and friends will be held beginning at 1:00 pm followed by a celebration of life and memorial service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at McSwain and Evans Funeral Home in Newberry, South Carolina.

Mrs. Gambrell was born October 17, 1929 in Newberry, South Carolina to Charlie Luther Johnson, Sr. and Verona Davenport Johnson. Mrs. Gambrell is survived by her husband William Shermont Gambrell and their four children, Lon (Dorothy) Gambrell of Whitmire, Sherry (Robert) Waters of Beaufort, Belinda Dean of Redding, California, and Catherine (Lawrence) Russell of Little Mountain. Brother C.L. Johnson Jr. and his wife Naomi, Sisters: Vivian Johnson McCall, and husband Jack, Lucy Johnson Mathis; sister-in-law, Joyce Johnson of Whitmire. She was loved and adored by eleven grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren and many nieces, nephews.

Mrs. Gambrell was predeceased by her mother and father, brother, Richard E. Johnson, sister, Patricia Johnson (Lewis) St. Clair and son-in-law, James A. Dean.
