Doris Royster Pack, 89, of Newberry, died Saturday, August 27, 2011, at Springfield Place.

Mrs. Pack was born in Durham , North Carolina , on April 8, 1922, the daughter of the late P.H and Vivian Royster. She grew up in Durham and has been a resident of Newberry since 1947. Doris was predeceased by her husband Cliff Pack and a son Jimmy Pack.

She is survived by her son Joe Pack of North Augusta , South Carolina ; his wife Linda; her brother Doctor Larry Royster and his wife Julie of Raleigh, North Carolina and a daughter Susie Walker and her husband Gregg.

She is also survived by five grandchildren: Jenny McNamara and her husband Patrick of Evans, Georgia; Cliff Arthur and his wife Rosemary of Charlotte, North Carolina; Jimmy Pack and his wife Lynn of North Augusta, South Carolina; Chris Arthur and His wife Teri of Chapin, South Carolina ; and Laurie Reese and her husband William of North Augusta, South Carolina. She had eight great grandchildren: Jace Pack, Tori Pack, Lindsey Pack, Hannah Reese, Alex Arthur, Katie Arthur Mary Ashley Arthur, and Megan Arthur.

She was a member of The Newberry First Baptist Church and for many years assisted in the Church nursery and beginner’s classes.

She loved to cook and bake cakes for her friends, growing flowers and playing cards with her close friends. Being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of her joys. Nanny we will all miss you.

A graveside service will be held at Rosemont Cemetery in Newberry on the 30 th of August at 2 PM by the Reverend Ken Harmon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice Care Of Tri-County 13785 C R Koon Highway, Newberry, SC 29108 or the Newberry First Baptist Church 1020 Boundary St, Newberry, SC 29108.
