Doris Bouknight Wise, 91, of Newberry, widow of William “Bill” Wise, died Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on August 24, 1920, in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Lucy Cromer Bouknight. Mrs. Wise was retired from the Newberry County School system and was a cosmetologist for many years. She was a member of O'Neal Street United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and the Bernice Martin Sunday School class. She was a member of the RSVP Singers for over twenty years.
Mrs. Wise is survived by a brother, Rudolph Bouknight of Newberry and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in addition to her husband by sisters, Nedra Turner and Ruth Wicker and brothers, Carmen Bouknight and Charles Bouknight.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at O'Neal Street United Methodist Church by the Rev. Richard Goldie. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to O'Neal Street United Methodist Church, PO Box 5, Newberry, SC 29108.
Pallbearers will be Darryn Bouknight, Dick Harvey, Lewis Lee, Randy Nobles, Andrew Shealy and Perry Threatt.
