Funeral services for Dorothy A. Kirby of Lufkin, Texas will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11:00 am in Greenville Memorial Gardens in Piedmont. The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 4:00 until 6:00 PM on Friday evening, February 5, 2016 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home in Newberry. Dorothy was born on December 22, 1927 in Tuscaloosa, AL to the late Lott Adolphus Williamson and Emily Sanford Williamson and died January 30, 2016, in Lufkin, TX. Dorothy was a devout Christian and devoted mother, a member of Chestnut Drive Baptist Church, Lufkin, TX, and a former member of Bethel Baptist Church in Prosperity. Prior to retirement, she was employed by Morrison's Cafeteria in Greenville.
Survivors include her children: Barbara Koenig of Newberry, Marilyn Detrow of Lufkin,TX, James Kirby of Burkburnett, TX; one sibling, Elowene Boyd of Fayette, AL; her grandchildren, Valarie Williams of Metter, GA, Derrick Lee of Mariposa, CA, Bryan Lee of Honea Path, SC, Jennifer Koenig of Newberry, SC, Jonathan and Joel Detrow of Lufkin, TX; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, James Otis, Clifton Bernard, Cellie Arlington, William Leroy, and Fred Alton Williamson; her husband, Albert Burnum Kirby; her children, Carol Kirby Dixon and Billie Ray Williamson.
