Dorothy Sloan Bundrick passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Columbia, SC on May 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Mae Miller Sloan. She attended New Hope United Methodist Church and retired as a dietitian from the Newberry County School District, Pomaria Garmany Elementary School.

Mrs. Bundrick loved gardening and growing flowers, often recruiting her husband and children to assist her. Further, she loved children and cooking, as shown by her many years of service as a dietitian in the school district. Always ready to travel and experience life, she enjoyed her adventures with the Go Group at New Hope United Methodist Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Darlene B. (Walter) Ruff, of Pomaria, and a son, Alfred E. (Lisa) Bundrick of Clemson; a sister, Margaret (Pet) Perry of Columbia; a sister in law, Kathleen Sloan of Columbia; and grandchildren, Justin Ruff, Amy Gallman, Forrest Bundrick, Ion Ruff and Elizabeth Bundrick; and great grandchildren, Evan Ruff, Katie Gallman and Claire Gallman; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, John Alfred Bundrick; brothers, Walter (WT) Sloan, Bryan Sloan, Bruce L. (Tiny) Sloan; and sisters Ollie Mae Emerson, Marie (Bay) Tucker, and Louise Harker.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 30, 2016 at New Hope United Methodist Church ( 3777 New Hope Rd, Pomaria, SC) by the Reverend Daniel Eplee. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Lutheran Church (209 New Hope Road, Pomaria, SC). Visitation will be Thursday, December 29 th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at McSwain-Evan Funeral Home. Memorial may be made to Epworth Children’s Home (2900 Millwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29205). The family will be at the home of her daughter (2632 New Hope Road, Pomaria, SC).

The family would like to thank Dr. Spencer Lovelace, Tessie Mendenhall, the staff at Newberry County Memorial Hospital and at Hospice Care of Tri-County for her care during her illness.
