Doris “Dot” Comalander Alewine, 78, of Pomaria, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on July 8, 1932, in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late John Shell and Lillian Shealy Comalander. Mrs. Alewine was retired from the S.C. Pardon and Parole Board. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Cooper-Fuller Circle, the Happy Mountaineers, the Fellowship Hall Sunday School Class, former church statistical secretary and Sunday School teacher
Surviving is her husband, Cecil J. Alewine; a brother, Owens (Earline) Comalander of Chapin; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Comalander of Lexington and Patsy Comalander of Chapin; her special caregiver, Lillian Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Alewine was predeceased by a sister, Margie C. Mishaw and brothers, John Comalander, Jr., Ellis Comalander and Cecil Comalander.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 17, 2010, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Fred Suhr. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or Organ Fund, PO Box 186, Little Mountain, SC 29075.
