Dorothy Johnson

Dorothy South Johnson, 93, Newberry, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at her home. 

Born on April 24, 1932, in Whitmire, she was the daughter of the late Leroy and Lola Hughes South. Mrs. Johnson worked for Louis Rich and was a member of West End Baptist Church. 

She is survived by sons, Mickey Johnson and Johnny (Lucy) Johnson both of Newberry and Ace (Kristin) Johnson, Jr. of Hodges; a brother, Jay South of Simpsonville; thirteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughters, Candy Kitchens and Crystal Bigham. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 24, 2025, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Kevin Carter. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 42040, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-3000. 

Active pallbearers will be Ace Johnson III, Joey Kitchens, Joe Bigham, Joe Kitchens, Bobby Walker and Allen Lee Terry.
