Dorothy O'Shields

Dorothy Ragsdale O’Shields, 82, of Whitmire, widow of James Earl O’Shields died Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on June 9, 1926 in Honea Path, she was a daughter of the late Charles Eugene and Elsie Byars Ragsdale. Mrs. O’Shields was retired from Park Street Elementary.

Surviving are sons, Tommy O’Shields of Boston, MA and Mike O’Shields of Columbia; a daughter, Angela (Steve) Jackson of Newberry; a sister, Frances Prather of Newberry; a brother, Charles Ragsdale of Hertford, NC; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Committal services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 12, 2009 in Whitmire Cemetery . A memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Springfield Place in Newberry officiated by the Rev. Steve Jackson. The family will be at the residence of Rev. and Mrs. Steve Jackson, 1327 Wheeler Street , Newberry and will receive friends immediately following the services.
