Dorothy Turner

Dorothy M. Turner, 87, of Newberry, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Springfield Place.

Born on June 27, 1921 in Newberry, she was a daughter of the late Jim and Ava Addison Millstead. She was retired from Senior Catering and was a member of Freedom Baptist Church.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, David and Pat McCollum of Wake Forest, NC; a sister, Vernelle Cromer of Newberry; grandchildren, Alan McCollum, Ree Dominick and Brent McCollum; great-grandchildren, Tyler Kesler, Taylor McCollum and Hunter McCollum.

Mrs. Turner was twice married first to the late O. D. McCollum and secondly to the late Thomas Turner. She was also predeceased by a brother, Jimmy S. Millstead.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4, 2009 at McSwain-Evans Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Eddie Bledsoe. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Freedom Baptist Church, 2028 Mt. Bethel Garmany Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
