Dorothy Dean Smith Turner Babb, 88, of Newberry, passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at her residence surrounded by her family.

Born February 22, 1933, in Union County, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Pearl Jenkins Smith. She retired from American Fiber and Finishing and was a member of West End Baptist Church.

Mrs. Babb was a strong willed person and never missed an opportunity to speak what was on her mind. She savored trips to the mountains and long drives. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandson dearly. She adored her granddog Bleu Turner.

Mrs. Babb is survived by her husband, Harold Roy Babb; daughters, Sherry Turner McGaha (Jim) Sara Dianne Turner, Linda Turner Werts of Newberry and Tammy Marie Turner of Greenwood; a son, John Henry Harris, Jr. (Ann) of Greer; a sister, Catherine “Bootie” Gilliam of Clover; grandchildren, Marlena Sherry McGaha and James Kurt McGaha and a great-grandson, Bryson Harmon McGaha. Mrs. Babb was predeceased by her first husband, Harmon Turner and siblings, Hugh Smith, James Smith, Bill Smith, Betty Brewington, Virginia Pace and Tommy Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 27, 2021, at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. Tim Thompson. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church. The family will be at her residence.

Active pallbearers will be Brad King, Henry Manos, Chuck Jeremias, Joey Werts, Jerry Wayne Harris, Brian Kalbfleisch, Steven Turner and Billy Turner
