Dovie Suber Sligh, 74, of Prosperity, widow of George H. Sligh, died Thursday, February 10, 2022, at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Born on October 9, 1947, in Newberry, she was the daughter of the late Claude B. and Ethel Eargle Suber. She was retired from BellSouth. Mrs. Sligh was a faithful member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where she was a member of the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class, was a member of WELCA and had been a past president, she had worked with Vacation Bible School, and was a past member of the social committee. Mrs. Sligh was a member of Woodmen Life Chapter 1054.
She is survived by a son, Philip H. Sligh of Prosperity; a daughter, Laura S. McCullough of Newberry; a brother, Randy (Patti) Suber of Prosperity; granddaughters, Shelby M. McCullough and Emily C. McCullough and nieces, Jennifer (Blake) Brigman and Monica (Mark) Duffy. She was predeceased by a son-in-law, Eakeath McCullough.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, February 13, 2022, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip's Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Mills, Michael Shealy, Patrick Meetze, Earl Alford, Charlie Summer and Hannon Bedenbaugh.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Faithful Servants Sunday School Class.
