Dr. Tommie E. Wicker

Dr. Tommie Elizabeth Wicker, 78, of Pomaria, SC died on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home after a long illness.

Tommie was born on March 24, 1945, in Newberry, SC to T. Lake Wicker and Frances Wicker.

Tommie graduated from Newberry College with a BA, Appalachian State with a MA, and University of South Carolina with a doctorate. She worked as a School Psychologist for Richland I school district and SC Department of Corrections.

She was a faithful member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Pomaria.  She was active in church committees and activities, including serving as Youth Group Leader in her younger years.

She had an immense interest in history, especially her own family's including doing extensive research for DAR and SOC applications as well as serving as a church historian for St. Matthews. She also loved spending time with her nieces, nephews and their children.

Tommie is survived by her brothers, David (Mary Anna) Wicker, Steve (Marian) Wicker and Craig Wicker as well as a sister, Louise (Dudley Hartel) Wicker and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Homer Wicker.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, November 10, 2023, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church by the Rev. Mike Shackleford. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
