Drucie Counts

Drucie Stoudemire Counts, 105, of Prosperity, widow of James Henry Counts, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at White Oak Manor.

Born on September 6, 1918, in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late Ollie and Eva Shealy Stoudemire. Mrs. Counts was a graduate of Winthrop College and in her early years taught school. She worked most of her life alongside her husband operating Counts Sausage. She continued working at Counts Sausage until she was in her nineties.

Mrs. Counts was a member of Wightman United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the United Methodist Women. She had also been a member of the Prosperity Literary Sorosis and the Dogwood Garden Club.

She is survived by her son, Rev. Jimmy (Lynda) Counts of Prosperity; a daughter, Emily (Larry) Graham of Prosperity; a brother, George M. Stoudemire of Little Mountain; grandchildren, Kristin Counts (Max) Defreese, Renee Graham (Bill) Joiner, Kelly Graham (Hank) Seiling, Katie Counts (Matt) Engen, Ted (Madison) Graham and Cayce Counts (Nick) Scofield; thirteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Towles.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Wightman United Methodist Church with services being conducted by her son, Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in the Prosperity Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
