Eakie W. McCullough, 73, of Newberry, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at White Oak Manor.
Born on June 7, 1938, in Whitmire, he was a son of the late Loraine and Katherine Epting McCullough. Mr. McCullough was retired from the Newberry County School Bus Maintenance Shop as shop foreman. He was a former member of the S.C. National Guard and was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Methodist Men. He was a member of the S.C. State Employees Association and the Woodmen of the World Lodge # 1054
He is survived by his wife, Pat Blackburn McCullough; a son, Eakeath (Laura) McCullough, Jr. of Newberry; a daughter, Eleandor (Kevin) Minick of Newberry; step-son, Richard Stinson of Woodstock, GA; step-daughter, Dayna (Marty) Cousins of Columbia; brothers, Leonard (Florence) McCullough of Newberry, Winfred (Kathleen) McCullough of Cross Hill and Jerry McCullough of Whitmire; special grandchildren, Conrad Minick, Chase Minick, Shelby McCullough and Emily McCullough. Mr. McCullough was predeceased by his first wife, Rebecca Price McCullough.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 15, 2011, at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Marian Dyer and the Rev. Dr. Timothy Erskine. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. The family will be at his residence 5820 Mt. Bethel Garmany Road. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Parkinsons Research, American Cancer Society c/o Helen Beebe, 181 Tailers Trail, Leesville, SC 29070 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 3225 Sunset Blvd, Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
