Earl Buckheister, Sr.

Earl Gilbert Buckheister, Sr., 91, formerly of Mount Pleasant, widower of Anita Morton Buckheister, died Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Springfield Place in Newberry.

Born on November 11, 1918, in Charleston, he was a son of the late William Christian and Olivia Naylor Buckheister. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired from the Charleston Naval Ship Yard. Mr. Buckheister was a member of Epiphany Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his sons, Earl “Chip” (Peggy) Buckheister of Newberry and Robert Alan (Gale) Buckheister of Jonesboro, GA; grandchildren, Zachary Odom Buckheister, Matthew Odom Buckheister and Randall Buckheister.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010, at J. Henry Stuhr Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
