Earl Long

Earl Franklin Long, 86, of Whitmire, widower of Frankie Marie Tankersley Long, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at Springfield Place.

Born on February 26, 1924, in Kings Mountain, NC, he was a son of the late Claude and Fannie Hullander Long. Mr. Long was an Air Force veteran and was retired from J.P. Stevens after many years and was a C.P.A. He was a member of Follower’s of the Truth.

He is survived by a granddaughter, Donna Ross of Newberry and a great-grandson, Lee Ross of Columbia. Mr. Long was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis Owens, brothers, C.O. Long and Fred Long and a sister, Wilma Childers.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Friday, February 4, 2011, at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Whitmire Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Thursday at the Springfield Place Chapel.
