Richard Earl Satterwhite, 88, of Newberry, widower of Janie Shealy Satterwhite, died Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at White Oak Manor.

He was born in Newberry on May 15, 1923 to the late Frank M. and Estelle Teague Satterwhite. Mr. Satterwhite served in the Army 88 th Infantry Division in Italy during World War II as a PFC. He was a retired dairy farmer who lived and worked his entire life in the Bush River Community. Mr. Satterwhite was a life member of Bush River Baptist Church where he was a member of the Men's Sunday School and the Joyful Hearts and a former deacon, and choir member.

He is survived by a sister-in-law, Dorothy L. Satterwhite and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by all of his siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Saturday, January 14, 2012, at Bush River Baptist Church by the Rev. Brian Preston. Entombment will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the mausoleum following the committal. Memorials may be made to Bush River Baptist Church, 8935 Bush River Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Dennis, Edward McLeod, Robert McLeod, Wayne Satterwhite, William Satterwhite, and J.D. Shealy.
