Edward “Ed” Rollins, 91, of Newberry, died Saturday, January 2, 2021 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.
Born on December 11, 1929 in Newberry, he was a son of the late David Lawson and Spicey M. Rollins. He was a World War II Navy veteran. He worked for Kendall Company – Mollohon Plant and later retired as the Executive Housekeeper at the Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Rollins loved his church Epting Memorial United Methodist Church. He enjoyed all sports, was very active in Newberry County Elections and the AFL-CIO.
He is survived by his wife, Louise Abbott Rollins; sons, Eddie (Connie) Rollins of Marietta, GA and Gregg Rollins of Newberry; grandchildren, Heather Rollins (Joe) Herrig , Dr. Courtney Rollins (Doug) Gutman and Charles Edward (Laurie) Rollins and six great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Connie Faye Rollins and siblings, Edna Bowers, Bell Seymore, John R. Rollins, Buck Rollins, Bobby Rollins and Jack Rollins.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 3:30 pm at the Newberry Memorial Gardens by the Rev. William Hightower. Memorials may be made to Epting Memorial United Methodist Church, 1401 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108 or to Sister Care, Inc., PO Box 1029, Columbia, SC 29202.
Honorary pallbearers will be James Bouknight, Gary Bouknight, Clay Beck, Rick McCutcheon, Blair Long, Chuck Rollins, Nick Davenport, Jeff Martin and Jimmy Folk.
