Robert Edward “Eddie” Corley, 75,of Newberry went to be with his Lord on Monday, May 30, 2016 at his residence. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

On October 27, 1940, he was born to the late James W. “Jake” and Eloise Culley Corley in Newberry, SC. Mr. Corley graduated from Newberry High School, The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and received an Associate Degree from Piedmont Technical College in Criminal Justice. He retired as a Sergeant with the City of Newberry Police Department and also served as the Safety Officer. He was a former member of the S.C. Law Enforcement Association and the S.C. Sheriffs Association. He served the S.C. National Guard and six months of active duty in the United States Army. In addition, he worked part-time in the family business, Corley Ceramics.

In his personal life, he and his wife, Marian, served as foster parents to many children. He was a faithful member of of the Baraca Sunday School class at West End Baptist where he loved to worship the Lord. He enjoyed camping and fishing, as well as spending time in his yard watching and listening to the birds.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marian Kibler Corley; daughters, Sharon Corley Williams of Newberry and Anna Corley (Woody) Nivens of Greenwood; a foster-son, Ron Sparks of Melbourne, Australia; brother, James W. “Jimmy” (Kim) Corley, Jr. of Chapin; grandchildren, Heather Williams, Bryce Nivens; Brooks (Audrey) Sanford and Sonny Sanford; his loving mother-in-law, Mamie Kibler; sister-in-law, Judy (Carold) Wicker; many foster children and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Sue Corley Kibler; father-in-law Henry Kibler; brother-in-law, Clarence Kibler; a foster- child, Pat Smith Kilgore; and a grandchild.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 pm Thursday, June 2, 2016 at West End Baptist Church by the Rev. David Lyles and the Rev. Tim Thompson. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6:00 – 7:30 pm Wednesday at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
