Eddie Cloma Miller, Sr. of Newberry, SC died on May 27, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Blessed are the saints who die in the Lord!
The husband of 67 years of the late Mae Amick Miller, he was born in Newberry, SC on March 4, 1926, the oldest child of Frank C. Miller and Thelma Sligh Miller
Mr. Miller was a member, until his death, of Mayer Memorial Lutheran Church, Newberry, SC.
Mr. Miller retired from Thomas and Howard Wholesale in Newberry, SC.
He was a proud US Army veteran of World War II, Pacific Theatre.
Mr. Miller loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments. He loved talking to people and visiting with family and friends. One of his favorite activities, while he was able, was walking at Walmart. He also enjoyed meeting with the Breakfast Club at McDonalds's.
Mr. Miller was predeceased by his parents; his wife; a son, David Milford Miller; a grandson, James Fredrick Cook; a brother, John Miller; and sisters, Ophelia Miller Cox Leitzsey and Emmer Miller Hazel.
He is survived by his sons, Pastor Eddie C. Miller, Jr., (Kate Power); James Richard Miller; daughters, Linda Miller Cook (Marty), Dianne Miller Way (Mack) and Sandra Miller Eargle (Simpson), all of Newberry, SC. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Melissa Cook James (Brian) of Chester, SC; Christopher Kevin Cook (Kelly), Titusville, FL; Stephanie Miller Yarbor (Brian) Caryville, FL; Melanie Miller Green (Michael), San Francisco, CA; Danny Miller (Corrine), Columbia, SC and Daniel Miller of Newberry. In addition, Mr. Miller is survived by his great-grandchildren, Addison James, Chester, SC; Noah, Grayson and Carolina Cook, Titusville, FL; Patrick and Emily Yarbor, Panama City, FL; Dylan and Juliette Green, San Francisco, CA; and Dylan Miller, Newberry, SC. He is also survived by his brother, Burnette “Buck” Miller (Freida), Aiken, SC.
The family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Springfield Place Unit 4 and to Dr. Michael Bernardo and Laura Odom for their kindness, caring and compassion shown to Mr. Miller during his stay there.
Visitation will be held at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 from 6:00- 8:00 pm.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 11:00 am at Newberry Memorial Gardens.
