Eddie David Stroud, 62, of Prosperity, died October 20, 2014 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Born on September 28, 1952, in Newberry he was a son of Martha Stone Suber and the late Luther H. Stroud. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and served with the Military Police at Ellsworth A.F.B. in Rapid City, S.D. He retired from the logging industry and was a lifelong member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church where he was a former church councilman. He was a former member and now an honorary member of the St. Philip's Fire Dept. He was a member of the Prosperity Masonic Lodge #115. Eddie was an avid Clemson fan and loved playing church league softball, hunting, fishing, camping, and shrimping.

In addition to his mother, he is also survived by his wife, Kathy Myers Stroud; a son, Shannon Stroud of Prosperity; daughters Keli Dickert and her husband Ryan of Prosperity and Andrea Griffith and her husband Stephen of Prosperity; sisters, Maderriel Milford of Covington, GA, Delores Garland of Newberry, Nancy Johnston and her husband Bobby of Newberry, and Lallie Waites and her husband Ted of Pomaria; a brother, Hagan Stroud and his wife Myra of Townville; grandchildren, Madisen and Emily Stroud, Ayden Dickert, Zeta Griffith, and Gracyn Koon.

Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Thursday at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial with military and masonic rites will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church Family Life Center, 2461 St. Philip's Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108 or to the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Active pall bearers will be Al Savage, Bob Johnston, Brandon Stroud, Stacy Waites, Jamie Summer, and Audie Myers. Honorary pall bearers will be Charlie Summer and Billy Gallman.
