Edith Elizabeth Huffstetler Eargle, 92, of Newberry, widow of Owens David “Fat” Eargle, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at White Oak Manor.
Born on May 7, 1920, in Chapin, she was a daughter of the late Charles Simpson and Agnes Amick Huffstetler. She was retired from Kendall Company, Mollohon Plant and the Newberry Observer. Mrs. Eargle was a member of Summer Memorial Lutheran Church where she was a member of WELCA and the Over the Hill Gang. She was a longtime member of Christy's Music and Dance Academy.
She is survived by a son, Simpson (Darlene) Eargle of Newberry; a daughter, Audrey (Vernon) Hawkins of Newberry; a brother, Ellis C. Huffstetler of Clinton; grandchildren, Scottie Hawkins, Tracy Fulmer and Ashley Moore; great-grandchildren, Megan Hawkins, Justin Hawkins, Beth Fulmer, Michael Fulmer, Makalya Moore, Lane Moore and Jordan Moore. Mrs. Eargle was predeceased by siblings, Cleo Brown, Lucille Franklin, Ethel Hunt, Emma Huffstetler, Marjorie Runyans and Wilbur Therron Huffstetler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, June 28, 2012, at Summer Memorial Lutheran Church by the Rev. Stephen Mims. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00- 7:30 pm at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Summer Memorial Lutheran Church Organ or Stain Glass Funds, 1609 Milligan Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Brown, Willard Brown, Dave Franklin, Justin Hawkins, Scottie Hawkins and Scott Moore.
