David Edward Berley, 82, of Pomaria passed away at Lexington Medical Center on Friday, March 30, 2018.
Born on November 7, 1935 in Newberry, he was the son of the late Jim David and Virginia McCants Berley, also of Pomaria. He was a retired auto mechanic with Hancock Buick. Mr. Berley was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. He previously served as a member of the National Guard. He was a very devoted husband and father who loved hunting and fishing. He was an avid dog lover who had loved many furry family members over the years.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Berry Berley of the home; a son, Jimmy (Donna) Berley of Pomaria; a daughter, Teresa Smith of Prosperity; a brother, James “Dimp” Berley of Greenwood; grandchildren, Candace Stockman, Whitney Smith, Abby Lindler, Jessica Odom, Brandon Berley and Martin Summer. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery on Monday, April 2, 2018 by Pastor Bob Huggins. Visitation will follow at the Reese Building of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, 2360 Mt. Pleasant Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.
