Eleanor Amick Alewine

Eleanor Minetta Amick Alewine, 83, of Prosperity, widow of Jerry M. Alewine, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center.

Born on May 17, 1940, in Prosperity, she was a daughter of the late Malcolm C. Amick, Sr. and Lena Amick. Eleanor retired as the Newberry County Director of Elections. She had been a member of the Newberry Lions Club where she had served as President and was a Lion volunteer for delivering Meals on Wheels. She also served on the Newberry County Memorial Hospital Foundation. Eleanor was a member of St. Philip's Lutheran Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Nancy A. Stoudemire of Pomaria; a son, Dr. Jerry Alewine of Prosperity; a grandson, Ryan (Kendell) Stoudemire of Prosperity and a brother, Malcolm Amick, Jr. of Prosperity. She was predeceased by a sister, Barbara A. Bedenbaugh.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at St. Philip's Lutheran Church by the Rev. Terry Amick. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. Memorials may be made to St. Philip's Lutheran Church, 2461 St. Philip's Church Road, Newberry, SC 29108.

Active pallbearers will be Brandon Waltz, Bryan Amick, Bryson Amick, Ty Bedenbaugh, Robert Bedenbaugh and Justin Dickert.

Honorary pallbearers will be Faye Carter, Luella Brehmer, Ludell Oxner, Ann Mitchell, Richard and Brenda Stewart and Earl and Charlene Dickert.
