Elise Metts Mayer

Mrs. Elise Metts Mayer, 94, widow of Ray Herman Mayer, formerly of Little Mountain, died Sunday, April 12, 2009, at White Oak Manor.

Born on March 6, 1915 in Little Mountain, she was a daughter of the late George Efird and Magnolia (Maggie) Boland Metts. She was a 1933 graduate of Little Mountain High School and was a homemaker and retired from Collins-Aikman. She was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Chapin where she was a member of the Prime Timers, the Alpha Circle, and formerly taught weekday church school.

Surviving are daughters, Sandra Ringer and Karen (Melvin) Abell of Little Mountain, grandchildren, Gary Abell, and Ernie (Andrea) Ringer of Little Mountain and Susan (Rhett) Morgan of Douglasville, GA., and great-grandchildren, Chase and Cole Morgan, Garrett, Kyndall, and Andrew Ringer. Mrs. Mayer was predeceased by sisters, Vera Riddle, Lizzie Graddick, and Mildred Cousins; brothers, Olin Metts and Efird Metts, and a son-in-law, R. Carol Ringer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, April 14, 2009, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Chapin with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Monday evening from 7:00 until 8:00 PM.
