Elizabeth Berley

Elizabeth Suber Berley, 88, of Pomaria, widow of James Harvey Berley, died November 25, 2016 at J.F. Hawkins Health Care.

Born on March 12, 1928 in Pomaria, she was a daughter of the late Willie Jacob Suber, Sr. and Edna Leitzsey Suber. She was a graduate of Pomaria High School and received a degree in Elementary Education from Newberry College in 1949. Prior to marriage, she taught school in Wagner and also in Beaufort. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and was a dedicated caregiver to many.

She is survived by daughters, Nancy (Jerry) Carswell of Lexington and Linda (Shane) Livingston of Pomaria; a brother Willie Jacob (Helen) Suber, Jr.; sisters, Cornelia Long, Mathilde Smith, and Marie (Dan) Sandel; grandchildren, Lindsey (Eric) Huffstetler, Rebecca (Evan) Pitts, and Jessica Powers; great-grandchildren, Layla Rachel and Ezra Harvey Huffstetler and Jude William Pitts.

She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, James Harvey Berley; a sister Ethel Smith and by a brother Tommie Suber.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00PM Monday, November 28, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church by the Rev. Bob Huggins. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service. The family will be at the residence of Linda and Shane Livingston, 990 Big Pine Road, Pomaria. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, Playground Fund 2360 Mt. Pleasant Road, Pomaria, SC 29126.

Active pall bearers will be Eric Huffstetler, Evan Pitts, Dale Smith, Steve Sandal, Jay Berley, and John Paul Whitaker.

Honorary pall beares will be Billy and Peggy Berley, Don and Janice Berley, Raymond Smith, Barbara Swygert, Jimmy and Debra Bickley, Larry and Margaret DeHart, Russell and Francelle Kibler, Anna Wise, Jim Ringer and Annette Berley.
