Ellis Ray Long

Ellis Ray Long, 81, of Newberry, died December 8, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born on November 2, 1941 in Saluda County,he was a son of the late Monce and Cleo Sanders Long.

Mr. Long worked for Stone Construction and later retired from West Electric. He also drove a pulpwood truck for many years. Mr. Long served for 10 years in the South Carolina National Guard He was a former member of Queen's Presbyterian Church and attended Newberry Church of God. He would often participate in Bible studies at White Oak Manor. He loved cutting wood, going to tractor shows, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian Ann Sumner Long; a son, Tracy (Wendy) Long; grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Sexton and David (Regenea) Long; great-grandchildren, Elijah, Kera, Nolan, and James.

He was predeceased by brothers, James Long, Tot Long, and Bobby Long; sisters, Bertha Harmon and Libby Long.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00PM Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Ricky Harris.
