Elon Wesley Eargle, 93, of Prosperity, widower of Floy Long Eargle, entered rest eternal peacefully on the morning of August 15, 2018 at J.F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Born on December 17, 1924, in Irmo, he was the son of Elon Grady and Ellen Chapman Eargle. He attended Prosperity High School and served in Coventry, England during World War II as a D4 Quartermaster. He retired from Heilig Myers Furniture (Maxwell Brothers) after 35 years of service, returning to work for Lindsay Furniture for several more years. Elon was a faithful member of Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church and a member of the Prosperity Masonic Lodge #115. In his later years, he enjoyed mornings at Prosperity Drug Store with the Coffee Club.

An avid golfer, with two holes in one, Elon was a founding member of Mid-Carolina Country Club, which recently celebrated its 50 th Anniversary. He enjoyed fly fishing, wood working and being outdoors. He had a natural ingenuity to create and fix anything.

He is survived by daughter, Elona Rhame of Irmo; sons, Gordon (Jackie) Eargle and Neal (Kathey) Eargle of Prosperity; grandchildren, Ellen (Robert) Pottharst, Jaclyn (Russel) Sease, Robert (Katherine) Rhame, Eric (Briana) Eargle, Reece Eargle, Seth Eargle, and Kallie Eargle and great-grandchildren, Jackson Sease, Elon Sease, Virginia Rhame, Gordon Sease, Robert Pottharst, and Amelia Rhame; sister, Elsie Jacobs. He was predeceased by brothers, Pete Eargle and Holmes Eargle; sisters, Harriet Epting and Annie Epting.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 18, 2018, at Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church by the Rev. Bobby Morris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will be at his residence and will receive friends following the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Lutheran Church, 2336 Mt. Pilgrim Church Road, Prosperity, SC 29127.
