Ernestine Wofford

Ernestine Kinard Derrick Bedenbaugh Wofford, 72, of Prosperity, died Wednesday evening September 9, 2009 at Ascension Hospice House in Irmo.

She was born in Prosperity on June 18, 1937, a daughter of the late John E. and Tommie Lee Long Kinard. Mrs. Wofford was a life-long, active member of Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, who always put her family first.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wofford; sons, James Paul (Karen) Derrick and John Marion (Barbara) Derrick, a daughter, Shelia LeJean Derrick Ross all of Prosperity; a step-son, Donnie (Angie) Wofford, step-daughters, Stacy (Tate) Hancock, Janet (Cecil) Morris; sisters, Kathleen Crumpton and Pauline Harmon of Prosperity, Sudie Mae Livingston of Pomaria; brothers, William Kinard and Harold Kinard of Prosperity; fifteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wofford was predeceased by husbands, Bennie S. “Bill” Derrick and Bobby F. Bedenbaugh, a son, Benji Earl Derrick, a grandson, John Clayton “Clay” Derrick, a great-grandson, John Dalton Derrick and a brother, John Glenn Kinard

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Bachman Chapel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Floyd Sides and the Rev. James Shealy. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
