Ethan Wise Shealy, 78, of Chapin, widower of Zeita Cannon Shealy, died Thursday, November 3, 2016, at HarborChase of Rock Hill.
Born on July 6, 1938, in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Ethan Otway and Ina Mae Wise Shealy. He served in the Air Force. Mr. Shealy retired from AlliedSignal and following his initial retirement drove a school bus for Lexington County School District 5 for twelve years. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church where he was a member of the Lutheran Men in Action, Primetimers, served as a Sunday School Teacher, and was a former member of the church council.
He is survived by daughters, Janice Shealy (Robert) Wells of Greensboro, NC, Diane Shealy (Tim) Howard of Lancaster and Laura Shealy of Chapin; sisters, Jane Wicker of Prosperity and Sandra Gilliam of West Columbia; grandchildren, Joshua Howard, Phillip Wells, Kristian Howard and Lydia Wells. Mr. Shealy was predeceased by a brother, Keith Shealy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, the church of his baptism, with services conducted by Rev. Judy Lewis-Copeland. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
