Ezell Junior Kyzer, 94, of Newberry, widower of Mattie Williamson Stroud Kyzer, died Saturday, November 16, 2019 at his residence.
Born on June 7, 1925 in Red Bank, he was a son of the late Reedy E. and Isabelle Jenetta Lucas Kyzer. He was a US Navy veteran who served in the South Pacific aboard the USS Monssen DD 798 from 1943 - 1946. Mr. Kyzer had worked at Kendall Company – Oakland Plant, had been the Newberry Franchisee for Dairy Queen for a number of years, worked at Georgia Pacific and later retired from Greenwood MillsHe was an active member as long as he was able at Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by a son, Ronnie E. (Gwen) Kyzer of Newberry; a daughter, Deborah K. Conrad (Chuck Hall) of Newberry; a step-son, Kent (Mary) Stroud of Newberry; a step-daughter, Ameila ( Leonard ) Finley of Laurens; a brother, Raymond (Betty) Kyzer of Newberry; grandchildren, Rhonda (Eric) Moore, Stephanie Fulmer, Teresa (Tish) King, Sheila (Richard) Dotson, Mitchell Finley, Sam (Donna) Hendrix, Kim Worthy, Mike Stroud and Susan Rifah and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Kyzer was the eighth of nine children.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the McSwain-Evans Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Counts. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Lewis Memorial United Methodist Church, 1105 First Street, Newberry, SC 29108.
Active pallbearers will be Eric Moore, Bobby Lipscomb, Leonard Finley, Mitch Finley, Chuck Hall, Sam Hendrix, Richard Goodson, KJ Dotson, Tony Johnson, Zeke Moore, Kyzer Fulmer and Hayden Dotson.
